Australian company, Advanced Plant Nutrition, supplies a silicon product called Maxsil made from grinding waste glass into very small spherical granules together with certain additives. It is certified for use in organic production.
Application rates of about 100kg/ha are being tested on sugarcane. There is also a liquid suspension available. It is claimed that MaxSil can replace up to 50% of nornal application of phosphate in traditional fertilizer treatments.
